The British Esports Student Champs (BESC) Group Stage has come to an end and knockouts are in full effect. Three teams had qualified for this stage. These teams are, VALORANT Team One, Overwatch Team One and Rocket League Team.
To recap, the Overwatch team finished the group stage with a record of 5 wins, 2 losses, the Rocket League team concluded with 7 wins and 1 loss with the best performing team, our VALORANT team, going undefeated, accomplishing a record of 7 wins, 0 losses.
Since we have recapped all the information with how the teams' records in the group stage, let’s move on to talking about the team's performance in the single elimination bracket.
Our Overwatch team had a rather convincing win against Morley Carbon 6. The result of this match was a 3 - 1 to CCX. They then advanced into the quarter finals where a disappointing (3 - 0) loss for the team against PROJECT: STEEL, would end their story. However, they made it to Top 8 again, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.
Our VALORANT team’s first game was a bye meaning they advanced to Top 16 where they would have a dominant win against the Cardinal Cavaliers, going 13 - 4. Progressing into Top 8 is where this team would also meet an untimely end. The match on April 27th resulted in a loss for the team, but they put a significant effort in, managing to get 6 rounds from Ares.eXe. This team has major potential and will cause even more havoc and mayhem in next year’s Champs this is something that leading Team Manager of The Crosshairs, Gregory Naika-Taylor, noted on Twitter. With a series of Tweets thanking each player for their commitment to the team.

Lastly, our Rocket League team played their first game of the Elimination Stage today, competing against BridgendRL where they triumphantly won with a series score of 4 - 1. They will now advance into the Top 8 with a real chance to get to finals they just have to defeat their rivals, Galaxy Orion.

What this tournament teaches the students who partake in competing is that no matter the result - win or lose - you do it together, as a team. It also creates family-like bonds between everyone on the teams. The time each player has sacrificed, and the dedication of each player does not go unnoticed. Thank you, Crosshairs players!
